Simson Hyperbike

This concept study was developed together with our two industry partners, Simson and Kontec. The aim was to create a motorcycle that would build on Simson’s long tradition of producing high-quality vehicles, such as the Simson Supra in the automotive sector and the AWO (later Simson 425) in the motorcycle sector.

The performance and technical solutions of the concept were intended to set new standards. Unlike comparable concept motorcycles, the Hyperbike had to combine good riding characteristics with the possibility of small-series production. A two-liter V4 engine producing 250 PS and 220 Nm of torque was planned for the powertrain.

The design was also intended to shape the visual identity of future, smaller Simson motorcycles while setting itself apart from contemporary trends among Japanese, Italian and British manufacturers. The goal was to create a distinctive character of its own.

Our early and extensive involvement in the planning and development process also allowed us to contribute to the technical concept, one of the key factors behind the design quality of the study. By the end of the project, 1:4-scale design models had been completed, and initial work on a full-scale 1:1 model had begun. The project came to an end following the insolvency of Simson Motorrad GmbH.
