MULTIMODAL OMNIDIRECTIONAL 3D SENSOR FOR HUMAN BEHAVIOR ANALYSIS
Many people want to live independently and in familiar surroundings for as long as possible as they grow older, while still being able to receive help quickly in an emergency. The MOVA 3D project addresses this need through a technical solution for Ambient Assisted Living. Using omnidirectional 3D video capture, a single sensor can monitor an entire room and detect emergencies such as a fall.
By combining 3D video and 3D audio data, the system can analyze behavior, emotions, and context. Interaction with the system is primarily voice-based, while additional functions that are not relevant in an emergency are available via a touchscreen.
In addition to meeting high data privacy standards, the sensor was designed to integrate well into different living environments through both its appearance and the way users interact with it. Data is processed locally, and a connection to an emergency response center is established only when an emergency occurs. These measures are also intended to increase overall user acceptance.
Our work on the project included analysis and research, target group definition, persona development, functional definition, concept development, design, model making, and engineering of the hardware components, as well as the creation of user scenarios, flowcharts, and graphics for the user interfaces.
